There is much discussion around spirituality and consciousness, but how deeply are these concepts truly understood or embodied? Are they mere ideas, or can they dissolve the grip of our lower ego? From a broader perspective, spirituality is subjective. To some, it is religious, godly, or ritualistic, while to others, it’s mystical, magical, and intangible. Yet, neither perspective captures its full truth. The true meaning of spirituality emerges through our personal journeys, no matter how challenging we learn to accept our life choices, navigate difficult circumstances, and find a deeper meaning to our life, which creates a spiritual portal.
Consciousness, on the other hand, is dynamic. It is often measured through the application of our moral, ethical, and belief systems. Conscious practice is not static; it involves a personal battle that includes a negotiation between desires, life experiences, and the roles we play. When we embark on this conscious journey, we grow self-aware, seeing how our actions ripple out to influence our experiences, struggles, and the flow of life.

This Full Moon in Cancer on Tuesday, January 14 at 09:26 AEST initiates a profound opportunity for healing. It trines and sextiles the lunar nodes and conjuncts Mars retrograde in Cancer, amplifying its emotional and spiritual influence. Cancer, the cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon, feels most at home here, offering a space to process emotions, feel nourished, and build security. In mundane astrology the Moon represents our mind, our feelings, nervous systems and our inner perceptions, while we may feel everything all at once our spiritual and conscious awareness helps us to intuit a prioritised plan of process. If not, we’re unaware or confused as to what needs to start first, and overwhelming us to then do nothing at all.
But Cancer’s comfort zone isn’t always easy. This energy conjuncts Mars retrograde, with Mars trine the North Node and Neptune while aligning with the fixed star Scheat in the Pegasus constellation. Scheat’s influence is far from gentle. Associated with floods, accidents, and deep grief, it confronts us with loss to humble the Soul and push us to question the meaning of our life and seeking refuge in something bigger, divine and perhaps mystical.

The Moon’s trines and sextiles to the nodes of the Moon in Pisces (North) and Virgo (South) add to this intensity, creating a perfect storm of healing and introspection. Moon sextile to south node in Virgo indicates we cannot find logic or reason for the events that are changing the way we live. It is through creative pursuits, using our body in practices of Yoga, Qi Chong or Tai chi can we start to move the intense emotions. Not all emotions or feelings require a story. They don’t need to stay long enough for us to get lost in some dark space. Neptune conjunct the north node with Scheat we need to be consciously aware of our coping mechanisms. What do we do when things get difficult? Do we hit the bottle? Do we project our anger or lack of boundaries? Do we fiercely create battles with those in close proximity? All of these are important due to Neptune, Scheat and north node will be together until March and then Saturn adds its limitations, structure or malefic qualities to our much fragile and sensitive situations. It’s a period for surrender, clarity, and purification of how we see the world and ourselves. The only way through is by going inwards, even though it’s a full moon the emotions are easily expressed externally rather than processed internally.

Unlike Scorpio’s cold depths or Pisces’ fluid mysticism, Cancer focuses on emotional safety and creating foundations. It asks us to care for what we value most, especially our relationships, lineage, and inner sanctuaries. Yet, with Mars in retrograde adds an aggressive energy, this Cancer Moon triggers a strong desire for emotional satisfaction, a desire that may not always be conscious or healthy. A desire or fear of our safety that leads to making unconscious choices. We don’t want to create a new timeline of suffering when these next four months are about transitioning to a new way of being human. We cannot afford to betray our truth for the sake of an old commitment. Things will fall apart, this time we need to just let them and see what can be rebuilt from inside out.
This Moon is a moment of reckoning: Are we building safety from a place of fear or alignment? Are our emotional needs grounded in self-respect and healthy boundaries? If we operate from selfishness or avoidance, this Full Moon will likely feel more challenging. There is a tendency to react, become emotionally, spiritually and consciously defensive. How do we know what we’re doing, planning and executing isn’t going to impact another?
Over the last 700 years, humanity has endured a toxic cycle of hierarchy, survival, and status-driven success. We’ve been conditioned to work hard (Virgo energy) to meet societal expectations, while spirituality was often dismissed as escapism or associated with cults, fanatical religious groups or for the mystics. However, the tables have turned. Now, spirituality is the key to surviving, these turbulent times that questions and initiates our ability to thrive, transform and help those in need without an agenda. This also, includes heightened psychic abilities. Our intuition and other ‘knowings’ will dominate our peripheral vision. We need discernment and to cross check if what we’re seeing, hearing, feeling and witnessing is real.
This Full Moon pushes us to realign our values, relationships, and commitments toward a higher conscious responsibility. It’s no longer about status or material gain. True safety lies in building alliances, fostering mutual support, and connecting through empathy.
We’re experiencing a transformation from anger fuelled by subconscious triggers, where we lacked boundaries and self-respect and moving toward a deeper understanding of our collective emotional landscape.
Scheat, with its challenging energy, is a spiritual initiator. It doesn’t weaken or threaten us. Instead, it illuminates the strength within. The kind that connects us, fosters kindness, and inspires us to lean into empathy. In truth, if we’re always seeking comfort outside of ourselves, never understood how to master this quality within, this includes love, kindness and compassion how are we going to find it for others. We’ve already betrayed ourselves how can we be loyal to another. This Moon will bring up profound energies for the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, pushing them to confront deep personal growth. At the same time, the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are being called to elevate what they already possess, transforming their experiences into something greater than themselves through refinement and alchemy.
This Full Moon in Cancer is dynamic, intense, and a powerful catalyst for aligning with the spiritual path we have long yearned for. Whether we are consciously aware of it or not, this Moon calls us to fulfil the deeper yearnings of our Soul. It urges us to surrender, release the need for control, and focus on what is truly emotionally significant. This includes leading from the frequency of our hearts. It is a time to prioritise the nourishment of humanity. Yet, to fully embrace this path, we are being confronted with the shadow side of our status-driven and misguided structures.
Full Moons bring conclusions, illuminating the ongoing themes we’ve been working through. The Cancer Moon reflects the light from Capricorn Sun, which trines Uranus in Taurus and sextile Neptune in Pisces. This alignment calls for a shift in how we perceive authority, community, and the collective. It brings in surprises or unpredictable shifts in our psyche. Our senses our heightened and we’re in training mode to learn responsibly how best to use these awakenings.
It’s time to integrate the lessons of the past. Our anger, grief, and fears. Build a future rooted in kindness, emotional intelligence, and spiritual consciousness. The path forward isn’t about escaping discomfort but embracing it as a teacher, a guide toward the truth of who we are and what we’re capable of, without the need to prove ourselves to others. Its time we became spiritually conscious and heal this deep aspect of ourselves before we embark on any unknown journey. The more conscious we become the more responsible and dedicated to our spiritual path on a personal level. Everyones version of spiritual consciousness is different, unique and require. That’s the secret.
Big love
