The Aquarius New Moon: A Portal to Authenticity, Innovation, and Inner Alchemy

Visions and dreams detach us from the subconscious ties to our old selves. Our subconscious is a deep void, endlessly pulling us toward the unknown. We are drawn to this energy because it is new, and a part of us is more committed to the dark than the light. The Aquarius new moon on Wednesday, January 29, at 23:36, trines Jupiter retrograde in Gemini, while Venus in Pisces enters her pre-retrograde shadow.

We are working with two different energies: Aquarius, where the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Pluto reside, forming a stellium with a blind spot to another stellium in Pisces, which includes the North Node, Neptune, Saturn, and Venus. A stellium is a cluster of more than three planets in one sign, creating dynamic energy. Aquarius embodies multiple energies. It can be rebellious, seeking to change the status quo, or technically advanced with extreme intelligence. Some view it as a force of innovation, freedom, and revolution, while others see it as disconnected, spontaneous, shocking, and unpredictable. It stretches humanity’s rigidity and is ruled by both Saturn and Uranus.

Pisces, on the other hand, is creative, spiritual, dreamy, sensitive, dramatic, and imaginative. As the twelfth sign of the zodiac, it governs hidden matters, including enemies and the intangible. It does not easily ground itself, yet it forms opinions on many topics. Ruled by Neptune and Jupiter, Pisces expresses itself in two distinct ways: one through spiritual practices bound by religious dogma that restrict creative flow, and the other through Neptune’s influence of projection, addiction, escapism, and boundless imagination.

These energies are crucial during this new moon because the seeds we believe we have planted may come back to challenge us. We are in a potent time. Never before in recorded history have the planets aligned as they will in 2025. This new moon coincides with the transition of the Chinese zodiac from Dragon to Wood Snake, making it even harder to anchor into stability. The snake symbolism is of rebirth, transformation, immortality and healing. Immortality speaks to our Soul, as does Pisces and Pluto. We’re in a time where our Soul is leading the way to redirect our searching towards our purpose, and it might not complement our ego or lower mind. The Aquarius Moon and Sun activate Pluto in Aquarius for the next nineteen years. News, conversations, symbols, and trends will lure us into new paths.

With such newness comes a warning. A commitment to our Soul’s path must prevail, regardless of the stories we have attached ourselves to. Aquarius signals that we must listen to our nervous systems and follow a new path with curiosity. We are not in control of our lives. We never have been. We have been told what the world is and how it functions. Like good servants, we have conformed to desires, dreams, and ideals that originated outside of us.

Both Aquarius and Pisces, at their highest expressions, emphasise individualisation. Not in behaviour, beliefs, or dreams, but in a much deeper, more elusive activation. This requires bravery. Aquarius opposes Leo, which embodies courage from the heart and does not seek validation. We all have Leo somewhere in our charts, and Pluto in Aquarius mirrors its antidote through this opposing sign.

True individualism must stem from creativity, where inspiration overtakes us, echoing our Soul’s unique language through our work. This speaks with integrity, power, and resourcefulness. Anything outside this alchemy is rooted in subconscious desires we are unwilling to acknowledge. We crave comfort, freedom, beauty, perfection, service, and spiritual elevation, yet we struggle to see beyond Neptune’s illusions. Everything we do, say, and express is seeded in the subconscious.

Saturn in Pisces, along with Uranus in Taurus, serves as a guide for this Aquarian Moon. To move beyond conventional aspirations, status, love, money, fame, we must ask ourselves: Who are we without these constructs? If this question feels irrelevant, then why does our body or consciousness disconnect from daily routines? A lingering sense of unease signals a deeper truth. Our soul and body are profoundly intelligent; we must trust them more than our conditioned minds.

Jupiter in Gemini tempts us into commitments that fail to deliver, teaching us that we are not in control and do not have all the answers. Aquarius, symbolised as the water bearer, is a mystical healer in Greek mythology. It collects wisdom from the heavens and pours it into the earth, cleansing humanity’s survival-based fears. Mercury the ruler of Gemini will be in conjunct with Pluto who is helping us to shift our perceptions and to reveal whats in our subconscious minds. Mercury is the depositor for the south node in Virgo, which indicates finding perfection or something that is great is not the answer. At the same time we get Uranus that stations to go direct the next day. Things start to turn on, so while we might feel were in the twilight zone, we must trust this process to reach within what requires us to self-sabotage our path.

This new moon calls us to heal. Not from trauma alone, but from all that we are not. Stripping away these layers requires time, care, and effort. We battle ourselves, our egos, and our desires while seeking fulfillment. We might not like what is revealed, and thats a start to unravel from the limitations of our ego. True happiness comes not from following prescribed steps but from innovation, self-expression, creativity, and authenticity.

Innovation is not replication. It emerges from working with the tools we have, without preconceived notions of how they will function. True self-expression requires meeting others without following trends. Authenticity is only possible when we confront our shadows. Pisces represents our collective shadow. Fear of rejection keeps us subconsciously engaged in proving, competing, and avenging perceived wrongs.

This is no ordinary new moon. It holds a sharp, matter-of-fact energy, teasing us with unspoken desires. Will we take the bait? The key is to resist, no matter how enticing the options appear. They stem from outdated mindsets and beliefs. With Venus in shadow, it is going to be difficult to accept where 2025 will lead us because all that we knew and worked has changed. The rules of life and navigating with the highest moral order has been activated. The Wood Snake year emphasises observation, transformation, shedding old identities, and trusting instinct. Snakes have venom and are most feared species on our planet. They are powerful creatures who can allure us into a profound transformation. Keeping secrets during this time becomes our own venom.

This moon is not so magical, but it holds the potential to open a portal to a new timeline. To reach it, we must journey within, know our shadows, and accept our darkness. The wisdom lies in not succumbing to it. We are meant to move toward the light, trusting our talents and greatness. If the ego clings to past projections, suffering follows.

To work with this energy, we must meditate, innovate, and create. If we find ourselves retreating due to ego-driven triggers, that is the moment to face ourselves. This is not a time for self-loathing. We have come far, and while we may have made commitments that no longer resonate, new opportunities arise unexpectedly. Not all new things serve us, and not all old things must be discarded. The only way to discern truth is to illuminate our subconscious patterns and learn to trust our instincts. There is a hidden gem in this energy, which is the ascension of our lower mind into a higher mind. It all comes down to what we perceive as success instead by devoting our life to a greater force that has no form, or name and but is in everything and in every name.

Happy new moon – big love
